Drummer and Percussionist

I'm not a singer who also plays drums, but I am also not a drummer who sings too. I'm not a keyboard player who can still sing and play drums, and not the other way around.

I'm Nancy Berie or Naberie for short, I'm unconventional, different from the crowd, more specialized, my own, characteristic and special. I don't want to do what millions of drummers, singers, musicians around the world are doing. I don't want to copy stars or friends that I like and even admire. I don't want to downplay the same drum fills and standards over and over again as 1,000,000 others do. I want my own signature drum fills, my own way of playing, singing and composing. I wanna be me Nancy Berie. It has been that way since childhood and always will be. The best compliment for an artist is that he is "different", that he is something special that cannot be compared with others.

I owe this to my characteristics on the one hand, but also to my life events. So I play a special drum form, namely open-handed play on Leftsite. And the legwork in the classic Right Site version. This opens up tons of special game forms for me and gives me enormous creative freedom. My playing form is not compatible with other drummers and I always have to set up my own set, but that compensates for my unique drumming style, which is unmistakable and loved by individualists.

Ich bin keine Sängerin die auch Drum spielt aber auch keine Drummerin die noch dazu singt. Ich bin keine Keyboarderin die noch singen und Drum spielen kann und auch nicht nur noch umgekehrt.

Ich bin Nancy Berie oder kurz Naberie, ich bin unkonventionell, anders alls die Masse, spezialisierter, eigener, charakteristisch und besonders, nicht besser, aber auch nicht schlechter. Ich will nicht das machen was Millionen andere Drummer, Sänger, Musiker auf der Welt tun. Ich will nicht Stars oder Freunde die mir sogar sehr gefallen und die ich sogar bewundere kopieren oder nachmachen. Ich will nicht die gleichen Drum Fills und Standards immer und immer wieder runterspielen wie 1000000 andere. Ich will meine eigenen charakteristischen Drum Fills, meine eigene Art zu spielen, zu singen und zu komponieren. Ich will Ich sein und bin auch immer auf der Suche nach mehr eigenem. Das schönste Kompliment für einen Künstler ist doch dass er "anders" ist, dass er "etwas spezielles" darstellt und tut. Etwas das nicht mit anderen zu vergleichen ist. Einzigartig eben. So bin ich.

Das das so ist verdanke ich einerseits meiner Charakteristik aber auch meinen Lebensereignissen. So spiele ich eine besondere Drum Form nämlich das Open-Handed-Play auf Leftsite. Und die Beinarbeit in der klassischen Right Site Version. Dies eröffnet mir Unmengen an speziellen spielformen und gibt mir eine enorme kreative Spielfreiheit. Zwar ist meine Spielform mit anderen Drummern nicht kompatibel und ich muss immer mein eigenes Set aufstellen, doch das kompensiert mein einzigartiger Drumming Stile der unverkennbar ist.
